PROJECT

Automotive Pedal Switch Re-engineering

Automotive Aftermarket requires car components to replace original parts produced by OEMs when they become worn or damaged. These equivalent components must work at the same way of the original ones, but they are usually designed and produced in a different way. This job is often carried out without the help of the original component specification and a reverse engineering is needed to study its behavior.

Our customer had to design the software of an automotive pedal switch for the aftermarket, obtaining the same behavior of the OEM pedal. The two pedals had different electronics, including the sensor and the microcontroller.

EMA studied the functionality of the OEM component performing specific tests to understand and profile the behavior. Software was designed and developed for the new pedal and its functionality was validated with comparative tests.
