Industry 4.0 has become a need for companies that want to produce faster, smarter, improve their product quality and reducing inefficiency and costs. In this context, each operation becomes digital allowing production data collection and sharing between machineries in an complex and collaborative network.

Our customer needed a semi-automated and collaborative solution to check the result of the assembling process of buttons against textiles. Some quality variables had to be considered, acquiring them in the fastest and smartest way. Then the result had to be stored and a label produced and applied to guarantee traceability. The constraints were: high accuracy and low cycle time.

EMA designed and developed a customized solution to measure some physical values of the assembled product. The project required the use case analysis, the selection of the suitable technology, the mechanical and electronic design of the machine and the software design to connect it to the customer servers with a specified protocol.
