Secure Electronic Gear Shifter

Cybersecurity-relevant ECUs in Automotive is an increasing demand of protection from outside attacks that can compromise the device functionality and affect people safety.

The customer has to design and manufacture a Secure Electronic Gear Shifter for a new vehicle and EMA is required to provide support on software design and development for a multicore platform to avoid not-authorized software could run on the ECU.

EMA analyzed functional and cyber security requirements and established the best design for the software in terms of resource allocation, libraries and performance. Then the cyber-security related software was developed with secure boot and secure update features.
A specific process for the software signature owed by the car maker was also defined and implemented.
